Frank Oden’s cowboy poetry creates a lyrical narrative for music evocative of the American West. Story elements mix history and humor to depict life on the trail. Set in Pre-Civil War Texas, we will tell the story of a restless young man who gives up farming in Tennessee to go west and “work in the saddle.” Character and costume changes present the Pioneer Traveler, String Bean the Camp Cook, Dusty the Trail Rider, the Yellow Kid and the Old Cowpoke. The story poems are interspersed between orch3estral selections including John Williams’ Cowboy’s Overture, Aaron Copland’s Four Dances from Rodeo, Rossini’s William Tell Overture and much more! Door and Box Office open at 6 pm, Concert 7 – 8:15 pm. Public Social Time to follow at Felix Street Gourmet (8th and Felix Streets).
